Towards the 2024 Olympics. Too bad there’s no karate!
The ancient Olympic Games were born in Peloponnesian Greece, inaugurated in 776 BC. in Olympia, sacredness predominated and there was much more, not only sporting events, but also singing, dancing, etc. With Baron De Coubertin in 1896 the so-called modern Olympic Games began in Athens.
To prepare for the participation of our athletes in the Olympics, in 1914 in Italy the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) was founded as a private body, subsequently in 1919 it became a federation with the aim of coordinating all the national federations, and during the twenty years of fascism it became an Autonomous Body of public law with legal personality.
In 2018, after years of reforms, debates and controversies, the Italian Government took over from Coni S.P.A. launches Sport e Salute, a public company directly reporting to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, directly managing all the economic resources allocated to sport.
The sporting world is not always in line with the decisions of the IOC. (International Olympic Committee) for the parameters in the inclusion of sports disciplines in the Games, enormous political and economic interests.
For too many years, BLA BLA BLA even from the current managers, many promises, proclamations, despite being aware that karate will never be admitted to the Olympics, deluding and exploiting the naive technicians and countless young practitioners, personally I am saddened by the exclusion of karate at the Paris 2024 Games.
Perhaps it is better this way, and I reiterate again that the discipline of karate is effective and attractive, as such, with the constant practice of the three K.K.K. (kion, Kata, kumite) and from my modest point of view, I am in favor of competitive activity but I do not agree with those who practice karate in an exaggerated manner, solely for sporting competitions.
Too bad there’s no karate at the Olympics!
I wish everyone good karate.
